From Roger:

"Gentle Peace" (1990)

This song is based on an anti-war poem written by a 10 year-old girl,
Esther Talbot from Stoughton, Massachusetts in 1814,
and written months before "The Star-Spangled Banner"
with lyrics by Francis Scott Key. I wrote the first version
of the tune titled, "Peace," in 1981 for a special concert in celebration
of the Centennial of Stoughton Town Hall. It was revised for
"A Stoughton Musicfest" for solo quartet, flute and piano in 1990.

From Margaret:

"Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair"

A favorite sea song beautifully sung here by bass-baritone, Eric Sosman, accompanied by pianist Margarert Ulmer, who chose all the music and also wrote the booklet notes for this AMRC CD.

‘Take Five” by Dave Brubeck Quartet.
Almost certainly the best known of Brubeck’s jazz compositions.
It is so inventive and humorous.  Paul Desmond’s alto saxophone is wonderful.

"My Funny Valentine"

"The Sounds of Silence"

From Roger:

"Dream World" (1961)

This is my first pop song I wrote
while stationed in the Army in Germany.
I wrote the song while in a reflective mood.
The lyrics begin:

"There's a rainbow in the sky,
While the birds sing a lullaby,
It's a Dream World."

It is also the title of my book which contains
my early pop songs, poems, and stories.

Classical Music = 2 tunes

From Jim:

“Adagio for Strings” by Samuel Barber.
No matter how many times I hear it, this musical elegy always is moving.

This tune was found in a Shaker theory book by Isaac N. Youngs from 1843.
