Music memories from Bloomfield, New Jersey
Roger Hall is an ASCAP songwriter, retired music teacher and radio host, cable television producer, CD and DVD producer.
Currently, he is Director of the Center for American Music Preservation (or CAMP) and also album producer for AMRC CDs.
For his many distinguished accomplishments in music, he has been listed in both Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World. For more about his music career, click here
He has looked back fondly on his early years living in Bloomfield, New Jersey and has prepared a collection with two volumes of his memories growing up there from the 1940s to 1960s.
He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1960 where he wrote his first song lyrics.
His story is told in two parts.
The first volume contains his early memories and listening to the first songs he remembered. It is titled after a favorite song from his childhood in the 1940s: "You Are My Sunshine."The other volume also has information about his early life and more about his songwriting days in the 1960s. It is after one of his songs recorded in Bloomfield: "Free As The Breeze."
Roger was in the Bloomfield High School "Choraleers" and here is one of the music programs:
His first two recorded songs were "Dream World" and "Frauleins From Frankfurt," both recorded in 1961 with two Army buddies stationed in Germany. He sang backup vocal and played bongo drums
as shown here:
